Glossary: Ranging sensor

Ranging Sensors precisely measure the distance to an object. Here, derived quantities such as layer thickness, filling level, position, Vibration, etc. are also included in the field of ranging measurement. The selection of the correct Sensor often occurs according to the Sensor range. There are Measurement ranges from a few micrometers up to many meters. High precision Sensors achieve Resolutions in sub-nanometre range.
