Exact positioning of operating tables
05-12-2008
Modern operating tables are anything but simple patient couches. They are modularly designed and provide many adjustment options. As well as height and horizontal position, angles for legs, arms or torso can often also be adjusted. Many preprogrammed positions can be invoked automatically. Precise sensors are necessary for the monitoring of these positioning tasks. Merivaara Corporation, a Finnish manufacturer of operating tables, uses draw-wire sensors from Micro-Epsilon for this. The sensors check the vertical and horizontal couch position, angle of legs and back and the overall inclination of the table. Draw-wire sensors in the SK series from Micro-Epsilon demonstrate their benefits here: The very compact design also enables installation under these very cramped conditions. A decisive factor as well as the high precision and service life is the outstanding price/performance ratio of the sensors.
