Laser sensors
With many industrial processes needing some form of non contact distance measurement device, the number of applications that now use laser position and distance sensors has increased.
Laser sensors are a non contact form of measuring device, so see no wear on the sensor or to the application in which they are used. Some lasers can take large distance measurements to the target object, which means they can be used in wide variety of applications.
Laser sensors focus a small laser spot on the target, which reflects the laser light back to the receiver part of the sensor. Using the theory of triangulation, the sensor receives this reflected light at a specific point on the detector, which is dependant on the distance between the sensor and the target object. An accurate measured distance is then calculated by the sensor, which can be used as an analogue or digital output in a range of applications.
Laser sensors can take distance or position measurements on a host of different target materials, including shiny and rough surfaces, making them perfect for use in a host of manufacturing applications.
