User-friendly thanks to a non-hazardous LED light source
A high-performance LED is used as the light source. LEDs are just as good as semiconductor lasers in terms of service life. Having LED Class 1, they clearly represent a clearly lower potential hazard when compared with the well-known Laser Doppler Velocimeter (LDV) principle.
Maximum dynamics due to fast, customized hardware
State-of-the-art signal processing structures ensure that each change in material speed is precisely measured. This is ensured by extremely fast hardware, which is able to register, check and compress current speed values in the microsecond range, up to maximum material speeds of 3000 m/min. This is the only way that maximum precision can be realised for acceleration processes.
Flexibility and compactness through integrated design
The compact design combines sensor and controller in one robust case, and so makes its use in many different systems straightforward. The device operates autonomously and has a low power consumption, which means it only needs a 24 VDC power supply. Internal temperature monitoring permits integration in the controllers of climate-controlled applications, so increases the operational reliability. The use of standardised interfaces opens up many opportunities in automating process lines.
Easy replacement of sensors
Conventional mechanical systems can easily be replaced by the ASCOspeed 5500. The device has a free scalable pulse output and can thus be used as an alternative to rotary shaft encoders. Synchronous operation offers major benefits in measuring differential speeds for controlling mass flow or skin pass levels. Using a trigger pulse from the controller, several hardware-controlled measuring devices can operate exactly synchronously, so providing more precise results during acceleration phases.
