Precision sensor supplier Micro-Epsilon has extended its optoCONTROL series of optical micrometers with the optoCONTROL 2700-10, a high performance LED micrometer with a 10 mm measuring range. With a high digital resolution of 10 nm, high sampling rate and excellent linearity, the LED micrometer is suitable for the most demanding of tasks including measurement of contours, diameters, gaps, edges and segments in a wide range of inline quality control, automated production and machine monitoring applications.
The optoCONTROL 2700-10 is an LED micrometer that operates according to the shadow casting principle and has telecentric optics on both sides. The optimisation of the lens and smaller 10 mm range enable precise measurement of smaller objects down to just 50 µm in diameter. Coupled with the high sampling rate of 15 kHz and the real-time inclination correction feature ensures extremely accurate measurements. These new capabilities open up applications for thin wire and fibre optic production line measurement. Even when the target object is placed at an angle or tilted up to 45 degrees from the plane of the light beam the tilt correction ensures stable, precise measurements and means that an orthogonal alignment of the measuring object is not necessary.
