Turbochargers

Apart from the angle of the guide vanes, the speed of the vanes on the turbine wheel is important for the performance of the turbocharger. Sensors measure the rotation of the vanes on the face side to detect the rotational speed. Due to increasing material stresses and speeds, titanium vanes are now increasingly being used in addition to common aluminium blades, which presents a challenge in terms of measurement technology. A special linearisation of the DZ140 controllers allows the speed of aluminium and titanium vanes to be reliably monitored from 200 to 400,000 rpm.
