Tire colour inspection

markingCONTROL TCI 8303.I is a full-featured tyre colour inspection system that provides comprehensive colour coding as well as width and colour code inspection of extruded treads on a conveyor belt. The system therefore represents a powerful component in a modern extrusion line.

The basic model of the markingCONTROL TCI8303.I (camera box solution) inspects the colour coding on profiles directly after extrusion. As the correct width and position of the colour code has to be checked, the system also measures the complete width of the tread. The inspection is based on an image processing system comprised of a colour camera and two surface light sources. During the continuous measurement process, average values of the position and width of the respective colors are calculated in one image.

In addition to overflow and interrupted colour strips, the system also checks defined colour positions. Due to its robust design, the inspection system is ideal for harsh environments, especially behind the extruder head. In addition to the camera box solution (CB), a full-automatic solution (FA) with a multi-axis positioning system is available.

Based on motion control, the fully automatic system inspects every colour track individually. The resulting reduction in material waste is a decisive advantage over manual adjustment of the tracks during recipe changes or downtimes.
